Kungsholmens gymnasium/Stockholms musikgymnasium is a well-established and successful inner-city upper secondary school. Our Vision is Education and Culture for an Active Influence in a Globalised World. We strive to make our students independent and active learners who will be prepared to take responsibility in the world around them, both during their time here at school and in their lives when they leave us.
The school has three sections:
International Section where all of the teaching is conducted in English offering the Natural Science programme and the Social Science Programme.
Svenska sektionen där undervisningen är på svenska och där erbjuds Humanistiska programmet, Naturvetenskapsprogrammet och Samhällsvetenskapsprogrammet.
Körsektionen som erbjuder en särskild variant av Naturvetenskapsprogrammet och Samhällsvetenskapsprogrammet kombinerad med körsång på en hög nivå.
Vi har också språkintroduktion för elever som har nyligen kommit till Sverige.
Our teachers work in teams around the students and our prioritised areas are:
1. To be a Learning Organisation on all levels using relevant research and proven experience as the basis for our activities.
2. To work so that our students see the Connections between subjects studied and in the World around us to create a more holistic view.
We use ICT in Learning situations where appropriate.
We have active and motivated students, a strong Student Union and many student clubs and associations ranging from Debating Society to Amnesty International and from Fikaföreningen to KGIF.
We have a vacancy for a teacher of Mathematics (Courses 1-5) and Physics Courses (1 and 2) to teach on the Natural Science programme within the International Section of the school. Teaching of Mathematics on the Social Science Programme may also be required. Teaching is according to the Swedish curriculum but in English instead of Swedish.
Our students have personal computers and you will be expected to be proficient in the use of ICT in the classroom. Knowledge of Programming within the Mathematics Courses will also be required.
Our teachers are also Mentors for a Group of students and you will be expected to support the students and be the link between the school and the Parents/Guardians with regard to the students' progress in school.
You should have a University degree in Mathematics and Physics and a teaching qualification either from Sweden or abroad. You should also have Teacher Certification from Skolverket.
You must be able to teach in English at native speaker level and you should also have a working knoeledge of Swedish as both languages are used in the workplace.
If you are called to interview, you should be prepared to take a trial lesson as part of the selection process.
Conditions
You would be employed by the City of Stockholm and the post available is a full time temporary post as we have a teacher who will be taking parental leave for approximately one year.
