Description of the school

Kungsholmens gymnasium/Stockholms musikgymnasium is a well-established and successful inner-city upper secondary school. Our Vision is Education and Culture for an Active Influence in a Globalised World. We strive to make our students independent and Active learners who will be prepared to take responsibility in the World around them, both during their time here at school and in their lives when they leave us.

The school has Three sections:

1. International Section where all of the teaching is conducted in English offering the Natural Science programme and the Social Science programme.

2. Svenska sektionen där undervisningen är på svenska och där vi har Humanistiska programmet, Naturvetenskapsprogrammet och Samhällsprogrammet.

3. Körsektionen som erbjuder en särskild variant av Naturvetenskapsprogrammet och Samhällsprogrammet kombinerad med körsång på en avancerad nivå.

We also have language introduction classes for students who have recently arrived in Sweden from abroad.

Our teachers work in teams around the students and our prioritised area are:

1. To be a Learning Organisation on all levels using relevant research and proven experience as the basis for our activities.

2. To work so that our students see the Connections between subjects studied and in the World around us to create a more holistic view.

3. ICT is in focus as a Learning tool to help reduce student stress levels.

We have Active and motivated students, a strong Student Union and many clubs and associationg ranging from Amnesty International to fikaföreningen, from KGIF to the Debating Society.

 

Job Description

We will have a vacancy for a Teacher of Physical Education and Mathematics later this term as one of our teachers is going to be on parental leave. The vacancy is within the International Section of the school where all teaching is conducted in English. The Courses are according to the Swedish Curriculum.

Our students have personal computers and you will be expected to be proficient in the use of ICT in the classroom.

Our teachers are also mentors for a group of students and you will be expected to support the students and be the link between the school and the Parents/Guardians with regard to the students' progress in school.

Our teachers work in teams around the students and cross-curricular work is encouraged.

You will also be involved in arranging sports Days for the students together with PE colleagues.

Qualifications

You should have a University degree in Physical Education and Mathematics and a teaching qualification either from Sweden or abroad. You should also have Teacher Certification from Skolverket.

You must be able to teach in English at native speaker level and you should have a working knowledge of Swedish as both languages are used in the workplace.

Conditions

You would be employed by the City of Stockholm and the post is a part-time temporary post covering parental leave.
